Wandering Jew was created to help the self-guided traveler easily locate, reach and learn about Jewish Heritage sites.
Select to see all Jewish Heritage sites or filter by synagogues, cemeteries, memorials, plaques, etc.
While the default view shows only the popular places, you can select to also include off-the-beaten-path locations.
You can suggest to add new content to the app as you travel. Easily submit photos and your location for inclusion.
Using the GPS location of your mobile phone, sites will be displayed in order of proximity to your current location.
Each entry includes references to related information about the place to help you understand what you are seeing and its historical context.
Lists of sites with basic information, maps and directions are all available without a data connection

Let us introduce ourselves. We are Mark and Irit Sherman. In the beginning of 2020, we retired and began our goal of traveling the world. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic changed our plans. Instead, we were home and could only dream about traveling. However, this time at home gave us the opportunity to work on a project we have long thought about.
When we travel, wherever we are, we like to visit any Jewish heritage sites in the area. These ranges from historical synagogues, Jewish museums, Jewish cemeteries, holocaust memorials and so on. Maybe you do the same. Before a trip, we research all these places online, put their location into Google maps and figure out, based on where we will be visiting, how to add them to our schedule. As we do all that, we always thought that there must be an easier way. Thus Wandering Jew was born.

YES! Currently we are a team of only two, so progress moves slowly. We specifically need people who would like to volunteer to do internet research, update the database, or verify GPS locations. If you have any information or photos of Jewish Heritage sites to contribute, that would also be helpful. Please use the Contact Us form to be in touch and we will see how we can work together.

Wandering Jew has not yet officially launched. Only family and friends have seen the app. Here is what they say.
Can't wait to travel to Europe and try this out! Will you babysit for two weeks so we can go?
The app shows how much more there is to see. Anytime you want to take me with you to visit anywhere, I am willing to go.
This is retirement? You guys seem to be working harder than ever!
Looks good. Seems easy to use. Will give it a try next time I manage to get away.
Everyone should know that I helped upload information to the app. But then I got too busy to continue.
As your frequent travel partner, this app will help us spend more time visiting places and less time figuring out where to go.
You have found your niche - using your talents to create something you are passionate about. Don't stay away too long.
My favorite is the links to the 360° views of the synagogues. Makes you feel like you are really there.
Looking forward to telling all our friends to use the app. And they will tell their friends because it is a good app. Nice job!
